Also you can go to my description area below the video to get my audio program “Breaking Through Your Personal FearsOkay are some strategies on how to accept change. Understand that change is an inevitable part of life. Before the time comes for you to accept change, learn that it is necessary for old things to go and new things to come. The entire history of the world and the history of humanity can be defined by continual change, evolution and development. Change is part of life and existence, and change often brings new opportunities--sometimes good ones! Set New Goals When we run into failure or setbacks it can feel like we are stuck with nowhere to turn. Life will take unexpected turns and when this happens our trajectory might have to change as well. There is a point where it is in our best interest to move on and let go of what we want. If something doesn’t work the way we planned, don’t get caught up in the outcome. Instead of doing the same thing and expecting different results, accept things aren’t working the way you planned and do something different. You may not be able change what you’re going through right now, but this doesn’t mean you can’t live a full and meaningful life. You can adapt and adjust to your present circumstances. Stop avoiding difficult issues and only focusing on what you can’t change. Focus on what you can do about the situation, and if you can’t change something it’s time to accept this reality. What do you need to accept so you can be happier and more fulfilled? Embrace your dynamic nature and ability to adapt. Try to view change as a challenge and a chance to grow. Remind yourself that you are a strong and dynamic person and that you will be stronger as a result of this change. Also, keep in mind that change can be a powerful motivator to help you achieve your goals Let Go of Fear: Let go of the fears you’re hanging on to — fear of failure, fear of judgment, fear of rejection or betrayal, fear of uncertainty, fear of risk, fear of the unknown. If you can’t accept change because you’re too wrapped up in layers of fear based on what might happen, or what other people might think or do, it’s time to shed them before they bury your true self somewhere you can’t get to anymore. My biggest fear when it comes to change — and almost anything else — is what other people will say, or if what I do for myself makes them unhappy. I recently ran across a saying that’s impacted me ever since I read it, and I’ll leave it with you here if you have the same fear around change as I do: you are not required to set yourself on fire to keep others warm. If you’ve changed, if life around you needs to change, don’t set yourself on fire to comfort the expectations and wants of others. ====================================================== Click below to subscribe to my channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/djarmosco ====================================================== Darryl Jarmosco Find my on web: http://www.darryljarmosco.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Darryl-Jarmosco-176492699290/ =================================================== Get my audio program "Breaking Through Your Personal Fears" https://darryljarmosco.lpages.co/ytctabreakingfears/

Accepting things you cannot change. I’m a big advocate for safe staffing initiatives. I’m also a huge supporter of ensuring nurses are properly treated and receive the breaks and support they need. However, when I’m working, this is not the time to tell everyone about the nurse to patient ratio that I just spoke on behalf of or article that I just endorsed. This is the time for me to focus on what I need to focus on at that time. With that being said, there are many times when I do not receive fair ratios (7 patients is not fair) and there are many times when I receive crazy assignments. Honestly, there is a time and place for planning and making sure you are properly equipped to do the job to the best of your ability… but that is not when you are at work. When I’m at work, my focus if for me to make sure I’m catching all the labs that may be out of the norm or making sure I’m paying attention to my patients vital signs and also their basic needs. I’m here for them, and if while I’m there I have to work 2-3 times harder, then that is what it is. Now, while I’m not at work and I’m on my own free time. This is the perfect time to try to make some real lasting changes. For example, me giving a talk at the Capitol in Washington DC to support a bill that would mandate a specialty specific staffing ratio. Currently, our staffing is supposed to be based off of acuity, however, acuity does not work because at any time a patient could decline. Also, it is too complicated for the charge nurses to complete at every shift. Which is why a specialty specific staffing ratio is so important. So, it is not that I’m accepting the way things are in the long run. It is just that I know that for something like this to change, it is not going to happen overnight, so there is really no point for me to get worked up about it while I’m at work. That energy can be better used to focus on how to give great care and become more efficient. I hope this note and video helps you out a ton! Have a positive week! Cannot wait to see you next week!
